Tactical Armored Vehicles

The Armored Group’s tactical armored vehicle lineup, including the Amitay, Terrier MLX, and Armored Terrier LT-79, balances verified protection, modular mission flexibility, and real-world mobility to meet evolving security and defense demands.

Modern security environments do not look like a single “typical” mission anymore. Teams may need to move quickly through dense urban corridors one day, then pivot to rural patrol, convoy protection, or rapid-reaction response the next. That is why The Armored Group has invested in the following tactical platforms that emphasize mission flexibility, modular integration, and protection that can be tailored to real-world threat profiles without turning every deployment into a heavy logistics problem.

Amitay: A Light Armored Vehicle Engineered for Payload Capacity and Operational Adaptability

The Amitay program was developed to address core operational requirements faced by modern security and defense organizations, including law enforcement and military units: effective personnel transport, substantial payload capacity, and the ability to integrate mission-specific systems that can evolve over time.

Conceived as a redesigned and re-engineered armored personnel carrier, the Amitay incorporates weight-optimization strategies while remaining user-friendly from both an operational and manufacturing perspective. Built on a Ford 3550 chassis, the platform is designed to support a high seating capacity, significant payload allowances, and optional turret integration, enabling it to accommodate a wide range of tactical roles rather than being limited to a single fixed configuration.

Terrier MLX: Rapid Mobility with Modular Payload and Counter-Drone Integration

The Terrier MLX was developed to serve missions where speed, agility, and adaptability are critical. Positioned at the lighter end of the tactical vehicle spectrum, the MLX emphasizes rapid deployment, effective maneuverability in both urban and off-road environments, and seamless integration of modern mission systems, including remote weapon stations and counter-drone technologies.

The Terrier MLX from The Armored Group has been characterized as a lightweight, high-mobility platform optimized for rapid maneuvering. Its design is particularly well-suited for special operations units, reconnaissance elements, and rapid reaction forces that require fast response times without sacrificing protection or mission capability. Central to the MLX concept is an open-architecture design, allowing a single chassis to support a broad range of payloads, from counter-unmanned aerial system modules to heavier remote weapon stations, without increasing fleet complexity or logistical burden.

Operational availability and ease of sustainment were also core design considerations. The Terrier MLX utilizes widely available components and simplified maintenance procedures to reduce downtime and support high readiness rates. In its standard configuration, the vehicle is based on a Toyota chassis with seating for two occupants in the front and six in the rear, balancing light armored mobility with practical team transport capacity.

Armored Terrier LT-79: Toyota 79-Based Light APC with Scalable Protection

The Armored Terrier LT-79 represents a purpose-built approach to light armored personnel transport based on the Toyota 79 platform. Developed from the ground up, the LT-79 employs a body-on-frame architecture and has undergone extensive performance testing focused on suspension durability, handling, acceleration, and maneuverability. This testing process was designed to optimize the integration of OEM and specialized armored components for demanding operational use.

In its standard configuration, the Terrier LT-79 is delivered as a three-door vehicle with a 2+6 seating arrangement, while a five-door variant is also available. Beyond personnel transport, the platform supports multiple mission variants, including light surveillance configurations, remote firing posts, and RWS-equipped models, and aircraft assault roles. This versatility positions the LT-79 as a modular tactical base platform capable of supporting diverse operational profiles.

From a protection standpoint, the LT-79 offers standard ballistic and blast protection to STANAG 4569 Level I, with the option to integrate lightweight appliqué armor packages to increase protection up to STANAG 4569 Level II. This scalable approach allows operators to tailor protection levels to specific threat environments while preserving payload capacity and vehicle mobility.
