HOME / Discreet Armored Vehicles
At The Armored Group, we build discreet armored vehicles across nearly every platform type – SUVs, pickup trucks, vans, and purpose-built team transport – so clients can match protection to mission without forcing a “tactical” appearance.
In many real-world security environments, the best armored vehicle is the one that does not look armored at all. Whether you are moving executives, protecting families, transporting high-value assets, or supporting law enforcement operations that require a low-visibility posture, discreet armoring allows you to blend into everyday traffic while still benefiting from serious ballistic protection. Our engineering process is centered on threat-level alignment, vehicle-specific reinforcement, and the integration of certified armor systems while maintaining OEM fit, function, and drivability.
Discreet armored cars from The Armored Group offer three advantages that overtly tactical platforms often cannot:
For many clients, the ideal discreet armored vehicle is a full-size SUV. These platforms deliver the interior volume needed for people and gear, the ride height and stability that improve driver confidence, and the curbside familiarity that helps you disappear in plain sight.
The Suburban remains one of the most versatile discreet armored SUV candidates because of its size and cargo capacity, which is important when adding armor systems and still preserving useful interior space. Chevrolet markets the Suburban with best-in-class maximum cargo volume at approximately 144.5 cu. ft. (configuration dependent), providing ample room for protective applications that require both passenger seating and equipment capacity. We also specifically offer a discreet armored Suburban platform with configurable armoring options aligned to the client’s threat level.
For organizations that want a slightly shorter footprint while retaining three-row usability, the Tahoe is another strong foundation, with Chevrolet listing up to 122.7 cu. ft. of max cargo volume.
The Expedition is a proven full-size SUV platform for discreet armoring when clients prefer Ford architecture and a clean OEM profile. Ford’s published technical specifications show substantial interior volume, including cargo volume behind the first row that can exceed 100 cu. ft. depending on configuration (and even more in extended-length variants). For protective work, that extra volume can translate into more flexibility for passengers, baggage, and mission equipment without changing the “daily driver” appearance.
Pickup trucks are often underestimated in personal protection planning, but they can be exceptionally practical when discreet movement and load capacity matter. Heavy-duty pickups provide robust frames, strong brakes and drivetrains, and the ability to carry equipment without converting the vehicle into a specialized, attention-drawing platform.
When clients need an armored pickup that can still work, the Silverado 3500HD is a serious contender. Chevrolet highlights the available Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 at 470 horsepower and 975 lb.-ft. of torque, useful for maintaining performance when operating at higher weights. We also build an armored Chevrolet Silverado 3500 platform with protection specified to the mission.
The Ford Super Duty line is a common choice for clients who need strength, parts availability, and broad upfit compatibility. Ford’s commercial specs list the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel at 475 hp and 1,050 lb.-ft. of torque (and higher output available on select configurations), supporting the core requirement of retaining drivability under armored weight. We offer armored F-350 builds tailored to threat level and operational needs.
For clients aligned with the RAM ecosystem, the 3500 brings major capability, including an available high-output 6.7L Cummins turbo diesel option that RAM lists at up to 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb.-ft. of torque. This platform is often selected when towing and heavy-duty cycles matter as much as protection.

Vans are frequently the most efficient discreet solution when transporting multiple personnel, larger equipment sets, or specialized mission kits. The Armored Group supports a wide range of armored van configurations and inventory options.
The Sprinter’s interior volume and commercial-grade design make it a high-utility option for discreet transport. Independent published specs for a Sprinter 3500XD cargo configuration list substantial cargo volume and payload capability (configuration dependent), supporting applications where capacity is a priority.
The Transit platform is widely adopted for fleet use and law enforcement support because it is familiar, serviceable, and scalable. Published specifications show payload capacity that can exceed 5,000 lbs. in certain Transit 350 configurations, useful headroom when integrating protection and equipment while keeping a clean, non-militarized exterior profile.

Discreet armoring is a disciplined build process that balances protection level, vehicle performance, mission requirements, and real-world usability, which is why The Armored Group works with clients to define the appropriate armoring level and then engineers discreet armored vehicles accordingly. In doing so, you can move confidently, protect what matters, and do it without broadcasting your posture. Contact us today to learn more about our available options.
